I dream of rain

And so my great road trip comes to an end, in a mere five days instead of the planned ten.. and I come home an emotional wreck.

I drove as far north as the Virginia panhandle, into the storm system that's being called the Blizzard of 2010. On summer tires. That was fun, if occasionally worrisome. The car accumulated about a foot of snow and ice that didn't melt completely until about Mile 1,100 or so.

In other news, my big-city driving skillz haven't deserted me. Driving around Atlanta was the most fun I'd had in a while, and it turns out I still remember how to get around pretty well.

As for what I have to show for all this driving... I'll probably be writing here a lot more in the coming days. But first... I need sleep. In my own bed. With my oh-so-faithful kitties. And maybe, just maybe, I'll get a peaceful, restful night's sleep for once.

Will anyone that still reads this be hanging around the Atlanta area from the 25th-28th? I want to crash some of my old haunts and see what's changed..

My plan is to drive north into the Virginia panhandle (via Asheville) on the 28th and head back towards Florida on New Year's day. Company welcome!
